An introduction to the study of fish, the most diverse group of vertebrates on Earth with over 20,000 species. This course will explore the evolutionary history, anatomy, taxonomy, physiology, ecology, behavior, and zoogeography of these interesting creatures. In lab we will collect and identify many of the 210 freshwater species inVirginia and learn about their habitats, life-histories, and the problems we face in conserving this valuable resource.
