This course is designed to provide an introduction to the fi eld of genetics with an understanding of the structure, function, and transmission of genes, the interactions both among genes and between genes and the environment, and the role of genetic factors in health and disease The course will examine classic (Mendelian) genetics, cytogenetics, molecular and clinical genetics with an emphasis on the genetics of human traits and heritable diseases Prerequisite: BI153/BL151, BI163/BL161 or instructor permission
