Prerequisites: MATH-2214 and permission of instructor. Designed for secondary mathematics teachers to provide experiences that develop significant connections among mathematical ideas and applications of these ideas to problem solving in mathematics. The course includes opportunities for the prospective mathematics teacher to reflect critically on teaching practices and curriculum and to use a variety of tools of technology and manipulatives to create environments to help students learn. This course also includes a survey of the historical development of mathematical systems, including those contributions of underrepresented groups and diverse cultures.
