develops knowledge and skills necessary to provide instruction based on national social studies standards and state curriculum models for students in grades 4-9, with an emphasis on the use of a variety of instructional approaches for culturally and developmentally diverse classrooms. The course will prepare students to utilize approaches to teaching and learning which integrate content relevant to students' lives, honor individual differences, and teach basic skills of inquiry and communication, including the application of educational technology. Required field experience: 20 hours. Prerequisite: EDUC 309 or 312 (or 313 or 314 for special education majors)
