College: COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS Department: BIOLOGY Credits: 4.00 Developmental Biology. Prerequisites: BIOL 230, BIOL 380, and CHEM 231. Special fee. This course discusses the concepts and principles that are rapidly emerging from studies of developmental processes in animals. We shall consider egg organization, origins of cell differences, molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation, cell movements, inductive interactions in animals, long-range signaling mechanisms, and the cellular and molecular processes underlying pattern formation. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory.
