College: COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCE Department: ANTHROPOLOGY Credits: 3.00 to 4.00 Building Sustainable Communities. This course will analyze selected case studies of community development programs nationally and internationally and evaluate their implications for community development in New Jersey. Topics will include the importance of citizen participation, inclusion of people with disabilities, aging in place, localization theory, smart growth, ecovillages, cohousing, permaculture, community supported agriculture, community land trusts, and community developent banks and corporations. Program evaluation skills will be integrated into the topics.
