3 hours. For the mathematics major, pre-engineering student or future mathematics teacher who needs understanding of underlying principles in numerical analysis. Includes: Finite differences and interpolation, numerical differentiation and integration, solving algebraic and transcendental equations, computations with matrices, the method of least squares, and numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations. Solutions of problems using computer. Prerequisite: MA 250, MA 315. Spring even years.
