3 hours. A course which presents an overview of the roles played by the various markets, institutions and financial authorities. Specific topics include an introduction to the U.S. financial system; the supply of, and demand for loan funds; the levels and structure of interest rates; and government and corporate securities and obligations. Emphasis is placed upon policy effects of financial institutions and markets upon various sectors of the economy. Prerequisite: BA 322 and EC 355. Spring.
