3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: ENG 112 Offered every Fall semester This course examines the major works of Dante Alighieri, the medieval Italian poet whose works have been called "Thomism in verse." Most of the course will be spent on the Divine Comedy in order to understand its literary and historical contexts and allusions and its theological structure. Minor poetry and essays will also be read as time permits. A research paper is required.
