3 hours, lecture; 2 hours, lab; 4 credits, Methods and materials for teaching foreign languages at middle and high school levels. Developing communicative competence, academic literacy through the four skills, and crosscultural awareness in a language other than English. Curriculum development; use of relevant technology; current standards; lesson planning; instructional strategies; inclusion of special populations; and assessment. PREREQ: A cumulative index of 3.0 or better in ESC 301, 302, and 409; completion of at least 50 percent of the credits in the student's major, with a minimum 2.7 cumulative G.P.A.; submission of scores on the N.Y.S. L.A.S.T. examination to the Division of Education Office.
