3 hours, 3 credits. ( Course may be taken twice for credit.) Topics vary from semester to semester. Advanced Courses in World Literature ENG 346: The Bible as Literature. 3 hours, 3 credits. Selections from the King James translation of the Old and New Testaments and the Apocrypha, read with emphasis on historical background, the history of ideas, and literary genres. The perspectives of the course are those of modern literary and historical criticism in a secular context. Instructors may choose to focus on the Old or the New Testament.
