9 hours (1, conference; 8, lab), 3 credits (maximum 6 credits). ( Limited to students majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry.) This course is designed to enable the advanced student to pursue an investigation of some topic of common interest to the student and a faculty member of the Department. A written research report is required each semester. PREREQ: CHE 234-235, or 344, or 334, and Departmental permission. Note: Satisfactory completion of 3 credits of CHE 491 is one of the requirements for Departmental honors. The total credits received for CHE 491 and 391 may not exceed 9.
