Examines U.S. intellectual property law (including copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and unfair competition law) as it affects engineers and engineering, with particular emphasis on information technology, the open source movement, and biotechnology.? It also critically considers the impact of recent, massive increases in the scope of intellectual property law subject coverage on technological innovation, technological creativity, business strategy, public welfare, and global competitiveness.?(IR) Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: STS 101 or equivalent.
