This course and BIOL 4350, are a two-part series designed to provide students with an integrated understanding of how biologically important molecules act, interact, and impact living cells. Emphasis is placed on biosynthesis, structure and function of macromolecules; major metabolic and catabolic processes including the enzymes involved, their mechanisms of action, and their regulation; and coordination of the cell's metabolic activities in response to internal and external signals. BIOL 4360 covers the cellular biosynthetic pathways, molecular motors, and drug development. Prerequisite: BIOL 4350. Corequisite: 4361.
