This course is designed to introduce students to Louisiana Creole culture and ethnohistory. Students will examine concepts of Creole Identity; learn about Creole cultural landscapes, language, religious practices, rites of passage, oral traditions, and material culture. Students will also examine Creole culture within broader issues of social change and continuity, and explore social diversity within the parameters of Creole culture. Prerequisites: ANTH 2020, ANTH 3110, SST 3030, or permission of instructor.
