A study of the relationship among language, society and the individual's concept of reality. The course examines a variety of anthropological and ethnographic concepts and findings as they relate to language and language learning in its broadest context. The course will also examine socioand comparative linguistics, the relationship between culture and language, and the implications for second language teaching. (Same as ENG/MLA 533.)
