Introduction to the systems and techniques used to transfer and/or process ideas, knowledge and information. Problem-solving, research and experimentation will be used to experience encoding, transmitting, decoding, storing, retrieving and using information. Students will develop technical expertise in the design, construction, analysis and evaluation of the components, devices and subsystems of communication systems. The impacts on and relationship to societal institutions, the environment and the individual are introduced and explored. Lecture and laboratory. Prerequisite: ITD 101 and upper division standing or instructor approval.
