Survey and discussion of the scientific literature on global cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and manmade chemicals with special emphasis on the biogeochemical and ecological processes that affect terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The course will focus on interdisciplinary themes that incorporate new research results form the fields of biology, chemistry, and geosciences. Prerequisite: junior or higher standing in biology, chemistry or geosciences. (Same as CHE/ GSC 565.)
