The course introduces students to the fundamentals of politics in the Middle East.? Students will examine historic developments and concepts that are relevant for understanding the political contexts of regions typically associated with the term "the Middle East."? Special emphasis is placed on the similarities and differences from the Maghreb to Pakistan.? The class provides the opportunity for students to become acquainted with individual states through independent research, presentations, and class discussion. Prerequisites & Notes The prerequisite is sophomore standing.? This course will be offered every odd-numbered spring. Credits: 3
