This course addresses the importance of language in general as a means of understanding ourselves and the world around us. Topics include, but are not limited to, history of the English language, dialects of American English, World Englishes; language acquisition and language pathology; language and culture; gender difference; language policy and planning. Prerequisites & Notes The prerequisite is ENG 1052 or permission. The course is required for English Secondary Education Licensure. The course is offered every spring. Credits: 3
