[Choice:NS] This is the first course of a two-semester sequence that provides an introduction for Science majors to the principles of chemistry. The first semester treats stoichiometry, atomic structure, and the periodic table, chemical bonding and molecular structure, chemical reactions in aqueous solution, and the properties of solids. The course requires three classroom hours, and one 2 1/2-hour lab per week. Prerequisites & Notes The prerequisite or co-requisite is MAT 1020 or permission. High school or college physics is strongly recommended. There is a lab fee. This course is offered every fall. Credits: 4
