The course will focus on family risk factors for later delinquency and criminal behavior as well as preventative intervention and treatment. This course will examine a variety of family issues including child maltreatment, domestic violence, family alcoholism, drug addiction, family chaos, inadequate or neglectful parenting, corporal punishment, which are known risk factors for later criminal behavior. Students will gain a general understanding of the macrolevel processes that have detrimental effects on family functioning and family structure. Crosslisted with WST 302.
