Prerequisites: ASTR 112, PHYS 202 or 232. A study of the properties, formation, structure, and evolution of stars with an emphasis on the physical principles underlying the observed phenomena. Topics include the observed properties of stars, the birth, evolution, and death of stars; and stellar remnants such as pulsars, black holes, and white dwarfs. This course is intended for students majoring in space science and the natural sciences. Although calculus is not used in this course, algebra and trigonometry are used extensively.
