This course covers both business and technical aspects of e-commerce, including web programming. On the business side, the course covers the current e-commerce landscape including various business models, marketing over the internet, security and payment systems and social, legal and political issues affecting e-commerce. On the technical side, after a broad introduction to the evolution of internet-related technology, students are given a thorough grounding in XHTML and to a lesser extend, JavaScript. The course requires building a dynamic personal or business website which is housed by the Academy's student server. Prerequisite: SM-1141 STCW: None
