An introduction to the Merchant Marine/U.S. Naval relationship. The concept of sea power, the national importance of a viable U.S. Merchant Marine, and the mission of the U.S. Navy are among the major points covered. The basic administrative and operational organization of the U.S. Navy is examined and discussed, as well as the basics of shipboard damage control.
