Students in this course will explore the great diversity of fi shes while learning about the taxonomy, anatomy, and physiology of major fi sh groups. The course will focus on adaptations fi shes have developed for meeting the challenges of life underwater, with investigations taking place in the classroom and direct observations of live specimens in the fi eld. In addition to learning principles in ichthyology, students will examine issues in commercial fi sheries management, and participate in a fi eld trip to the New England Aquarium.
