This course provides an introduction to major issues in ethics and the approaches various philosophers have taken to moral theory. The course focuses on ethical theory itself: the ideas people use as they discuss these practical issues and attempt to justify their actions. Students explore what makes an issue an ethical issue, the particular types of reasoning involved in ethics, the foundations of moral beliefs, and the amoralist rejection of ethics.
