Prerequisite: MUSC 105 or its equivalent. This course is a continuation and elaboration of tonal harmony as begun in MUSC 104-105 with in-depth study of eighteenth-century counterpoint, chromatic harmony, rudiments of form and analysis, the large instrumental forms, extended harmony and twentieth-century compositional techniques. Most assignments will be analytical in nature while a few will require the student to compose. These courses must be taken in sequence.
