A study of people and events that shaped U.S. policies and influence life in the United States today. The major emphasis in this course will be on World War II to the present, understanding the emergence of the United States as a world power. The Korean and Vietnam wars and forces such as communism, the Cold War and rise of Third World powers will be explored. The study includes the impact of technical and scientific development and the dynamics of social change that characterized the 20th century.
