The changing demography of the United States will be explored, highlighting the need to understand cultural diversity. Epidemiological thinking will provide a background for assessing various community aspects affecting health care. Emphasis is placed upon promotion of wellness and how to modify patient behavior as a basis for improving health care delivery within the community.
