The theory and practice of effective interviewing for both interviewer and interviewee will be discussed: creating rapport, barriers to interviewing effectiveness, styles of listening, categories of interview questions, effective verbal and nonverbal interviewing behaviors, and directive versus nondirective approaches. Students will participate in different types of evaluated interview settings, such as information-gathering employment, persuasive, problem-solving and counseling interviews. 3 credits. AY
