This course is a survey of the history and cultures of Spain from the earliest times to present day society. Special attention is given to the area of the Spanish Empire and to the events of the modern and contemporary period. Cultural achievements in art (including architecture, sculpture, paintings, music, dance, folklore, etc.) are explored along with Spain's rich heritage of popular culture and customs.
