This course will investigate the social and cultural sources, processes and contexts of religion (ideas, practices, organizations) and the influences of religion on individuals and other spheres of social life (government, economy, ideology, class structure, etc.). Particular attention will be given to religious encounter with the modern world (pluralism, secularization, technology) and the role of religion in social change and social integration. 4 credits. N
