This course surveys the history, methods, theories and applications of personnel concerns in organizations. Topics include: recruitment, testing, and selection; job analysis; training and development of employees; performance evaluation; compensation; job design, quality of work life and employee satisfaction; motivation and job commitment; employee stress and health; employee assistance programs. Diversity issues related to culture, gender and disabling conditions will be integrated with the above listed topics. An emphasis will be placed on case examples and practical applications of theory and research. Not open to students who have taken PSY 231. 4 credits. N
