The course will utilize the systems approach in studying the Earth system and the interaction of humans as part of the complex interacting whole. Each lecture will focus on a topic that affects the human population-the problems, the possible solutions and the underlying science. Extensive use will be made of the Internet and having students utilize the resources and data it provides in defining these problems. Prerequisite: STL 100. Class meetings include lecture and laboratory. 3 credits. FS
