A course devoted to the practice of effective writing for English majors, minors and non-majors (juniors and seniors with permission of instructor). In addition to reading assignments in literature and expository essays, the course will focus on student writing, particularly analytical writing, and will address how to formulate a strong thesis, organize arguments, and use secondary sources. The focus on student writing will refine the skills necessary for the workplace, the elementary/secondary classroom, and/or graduate school. 3 credits. AY
