This course provides an overview of communication disorders and explores the impact of such disorders on education, employment and interpersonal relationships. Through lecture, discussion and the use of media, students will become familiar with disorders such as hearing impairment, stuttering, aphasia, cleft palate, voice disorders, language delay and laryngectomy. The professions of speech-language pathology and audiology will be described; academic requirements, clinical practica and scope of practice will be outlined. 1 credit, weekend intensive. N
