A course that introduces students to the world of photosynthetic organisms. In particular, the course explores plant form and diversity. Emphasis will be placed on plant morphology, anatomy, reproduction, taxonomy, evolution and ecology. Recent scientific developments will also be reviewed. The lab will have three objectives: 1) provide a macroscopic and microscopic survey of photosynthetic organisms from algae to flowering plants; 2) examine more closely the cells, tissues, and organs that make up a plant; 3) have students become more aware of the plantlife that is around them. Three hours lecture, two hours lab. Prerequisites: BIO 101, 102. 4 credits. S
