This course is designed to provide both the regular classroom teacher and the special educator an update on the Current Best Practices relevant to No Child Left Behind the mandates fir Scientifically Based Instruction (SBI) Response to Intervention (RTI) and referral processes for special education services. Students review successful intervention strategies supplemental aids and services program modifications and curriculum accommodations to reach and teach all students in their classes. Students will plan and develop Individual Education Programs (IEP's) for their students. The course will also prepare in-service teachers to become critical thinking professionals who will be able to demonstrate knowledge and the application of methods materials and classroom organization and management appropriate for children who present a need for mild to moderate special education. Multicultural perspectives global perspectives and best practices in college teaching and electronic learning will be modeled.
