Prerequisites: Bio 100 or Bio 204 or Bio 220 or Bio 221or Bio 330 or instructor's permission. To provide the students with an understanding of the organs and systems of the human body with particular emphasis on the effects of physical activity on the functioning of these systems. Emphasis will be placed on metabolic muscular cardiovascular and pulmonary adaptation to exercise and exercise training. The course also emphasizes how the biological design of the cardiovascular muscular and pulmonary systems limit exercise capacity in different situations. We will also study the immediate and long-term effects upon functions of the human body. The laboratory experiences allow you to observe the fundamental systems in relation to the physiological concepts discussed in the course.
