Beginning study of the Spanish language and culture, with emphasis on communicative skills (equivalent to SPA 101); credit will be granted for systematic study of the Spanish language and culture in a recognized teaching institution, in a Spanish speaking country, approved in advance by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures; the department will examine and grade the progress and achievement of the participants in this program before granting credit
