European painting, sculpture, and architecture from the 15th to the 17th centuries. Th e course focuses on the revolutionary character of early Renaissance art in Italy and the Netherlands and the heroic age of High Renaissance classicism that followed around 1500. Examines the subsequent crisis of 16th-century Mannerism and realism, and the ruptures and continuities underlying the diverse forms and meanings of Baroque art in the following century.
