Data and information are the primary assets for all organizations. CIS professionals who administer, program, support, and develop information systems are the guardians of these digital assets. Th is course prepares students to understand the nature of information security, the threats to computer systems both within and outside an organization, technical procedures to protect computer systems, management policies that address and enforce security, and the legal options to resolve misuse and breaches to security. Prereq: CIS 510, CIS 542, CIS 550, or permission of instructor. 4 cr.
