A practical opportunity for students at differing ability levels to study compositional techniques through preexisting works and apply those techniques in a variety of compositional projects in different mediums. Discussion of instrument ranges; orchestrational techniques; score study; listening to scores; study of forms, including fugues, sonata form, ternary, rondo, minuet, and scherzo; rhythm; melody; and harmonic rhythm. Students compose and perform an original composition. [Continuing Education course]
