A lecture and laboratory course dealing with the fundamentals necessary in preparation for the clinical experience in dental hygiene. Information on the dental/dental hygiene profession, prophylaxis techniques, clinical procedure, patient management, and oral health education is an integral part of the course. Experience which can be applied to the oral cavity is obtained through instrumentation procedures on mannequins.
