Introduces the teacher candidate to the process of becoming a highly qualified teacher in the State of Hawai'i. Topics include: an overview of the Teacher Education program, K-6; an introduction to the multiple dimensions of teaching, including the "why" of teaching (entering the profession);the "who" of teaching (students), the "what" of teachi(curriculum), and the "how" of teaching (pedagogy); aninitiation into the lifelong process of reflection and growth; and initial development of the Professional Portfolio. Pre: Placement into ENG 100 or concurrent enrollment in ENG 22. Coreq: EDEE 200.
