This course examines the material and non-material culture of the people in the Philippines. This course takes a glimpse of the story of (wo)man in the Philippine Islands during the prehistoric and pre-colonial period. It examines the cultural practices of various Filipino ethnolinguistic groups, giving emphasis on their social structures and dynamics, customs and traditions, value systems, and cultural symbols. The course also explores issues facing the indigenous people and other sub-groups in the Philippines. (DS)
