Investigates the content and various models of the mathematics curriculum for middle school grades (6-8) and high school (9-12) in the U.S. as well as in other cultures. Traces the evolution of contemporary programs and the philosophies that have driven them. Includes study of the NCTM Standards, the Illinois Learning Standards, and the use of various forms of technology as tools for exploring mathematics. Prerequisites: Candidates must have completed at least 24 semester hours in mathematics, EDUC310 with a "B" or better, and have their academic advisor' authorization.
