Laboratory experiments associated with this course include the following topics: preparation and use of TLC plates for the separation of organic compounds; packed and capillary gas chromatographic analysis of environmental samples; column chromatography of organometallic compounds; paper chromatography of amino acid mixtures, pesticides residue analysis by electron capture gas chromatography; HPLC of food preservatives and computerized GC/MS analysis of volatile organics.
