Continues the exploration of the basic scientific principles that underlie major modern discoveries with an emphasis on the common themes among the sciences and their applications to everyday life. Presents principles of the structure and genesis of the universe and solar system, our planet's features and history, and the basic properties of life, including its molecular basis, evolution and ecology.
